I'm afraid I'm not a great friend in this regard, as I don't exactly relate. I understand being tired, being behind, hurting all the time (by proxy anyway), but I can't relate to the magnitude of these things for you. I'm in sheer awe of how much you do manage without going off the deep end. Seeing you reaffirms my decision to not have kids and to keep a job I don't really like, but that isn't terribly stressful. If I had what you had to deal with everyday, I would crawl into my bed and never come out again. Just remember, for every moment you 'steal' for yourself, you will make up for quantity with quality in the remaining moments with your husband and child, which I think they will understand and appreciate.

I hope you don't feel guilty for 'stealing time'. I'm pretty sure those activities are all fairly essential for you.

I have a jinxed birthday. It started when I was small and including such trauma’s as Wimpy flooding and my party being cancelled, everybody getting food poisoning from a school trip before my birthday, my Dad being in Hospital.

On my 18th there was a a family fight, 19th a car crash … I have been stood up, dumped by an ex, and alone without a friend abroad all on my birthday.

And that’s scratching the surface, this year I had a fantastic day I couldn’t believe it after 27 years of non-days … but the day after everything went bad again!

Sadly, Birthdays are not something I ever want to celebrate!
